Ensuring a Safe Return
MetroNational is the first company in Texas to achieve the WELL Health-Safety Rating for all of its office buildings in its portfolio from the International WELL Building Institute (IWBI). MetroNational earned the rating across all 11 of their award-winning, LEED-certified, Class A office properties, totaling 3.8 million square feet in Memorial City.
Adapted from features in the WELL Building Standard (WELL) that focus on facility maintenance and operations, the WELL Health-Safety Rating is designed to empower owners and operators across large and small businesses alike to take the necessary steps in order to prioritize the health and safety of their staff, visitors, and stakeholders. It also serves as a guide for organizations to appropriately address a post-COVID-19 environment now and into the future.
Launched in 2020, the WELL Health-Safety Rating is an evidence-based, third-party verified rating for all new and existing building and space types focusing on operational policies, maintenance protocols, stakeholder engagement and emergency plans. In order to achieve the rating, MetroNational’s office properties were measured by five categories including cleaning and sanitizations procedures, emergency preparedness programs, health service resources, air and water quality management, stakeholder engagement and communication, and innovation.
The WELL Health-Safety Rating achieved by MetroNational is informed by guidance developed by the World Health Organization (WHO), U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), global disease control and prevention centers and emergency management agencies, and recognized standard-making associations, such as ASTM International and ASHRAE, and leading academic and research institutions. IWBI has leveraged insights from its Task Force on COVID-19, established at the outset of the pandemic to help business and building leaders integrate actionable insights and proven strategies in the fight against COVID-19 and other respiratory infections.
